Excursion 1: Chamonix Mont Blanc

Built in the 19th century Chamonix is one of the most historic and beautiful mountain resorts in the world. From its charming church and alpine museums through to its quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, Chamonix is indeed a fascinating place to explore at leisure.

The cobbled attractive town centre crossing the pretty river Arve provides a convenient meeting place to relax in the afternoon sunshine and take the perfect photo.

The two main attractions of Chamonix are the Aiguille Du Midi and the Mer De Glace (Sea of Ice).

The Aiguille du Midi offers you a breath-taking view of Mont Blanc, Europes highest peak. The cable car will take you to 3842 meters in altitude to a plateau covered in snow and ice all year round. Here you can eat at Europe's highest restaurant - whilst toasting to the marvellous scenery.

The old cog train at Montenvers Station will allow you to discover the Mer de Glace and take you deep in to Chamonix's ice caves. The relaxing journey offers a once in a life time panorama of the Chamonix Valley.
