Frequently asked questions
What happens when we arrive at Geneva Airport?
Once you have collected your baggage, and exit into the Arrivals Hall, you will see our airport representative standing by the Information Desk. He/She will have a signboard with your name on it. They will take your bags to the bus and you will wait for the scheduled departure time highlighted on your booking confirmation. At times (particularly Saturdays) the airport can be a very crowded place.
If you are struggling to find our rep, please call one of the telephone numbers provided on your email confirmation. Please turn your mobile phone on as soon as you exit the aircraft, as Alpybus may be trying to contact you regarding your transfer. Alpybus will not be held responsible for missed transfers when we cannot reach the client with the contact information provided by the client.
What if my flight is delayed?
We advise all clients to call the Alpybus office first. We will then re-schedule you on the next transfer that has seats available at no extra charge. There may be a wait. In the event of no seats being available on subsequent transfers, we will obtain a transfer for you with one of our transfer partners. In this case a 15 Euro supplement will be applicable per person. Should you not wish to take one of the later transfers and choose to re-organize a separate transfer for yourself, the Alpybus ticket is non-refundable.
What happens on the return journey?
You are given a pickup time highlighted on your email confirmation. Return pick up times may vary due to poor weather conditions, traffic warnings and number of stops on route. Regardless if your time has changed or not, Alpybus will contact you by 18:00/(6:00 pm) the evening prior to your departure either via PHONE, SMS, and/or EMAIL to communicate your final pickup time for the next day's transfer to the airport. Alpybus kindly asks for a confirmation response.
If you DO NOT hear from Alpybus by this time, please contact our office at +41 227 232 984 or +41 795 393 754 as we may not be able to reach you, and your pickup time could change earlier/later than originally quoted. These changes are made for the benefit of all traveling passengers.
Passengers should be waiting outside their address looking for the Alpybus, and visible to the bus driver picking them up. Alpybus will not be held responsible for missed pickups when we cannot reach the client with the contact information provided by the client or if the client is not waiting outside. Payment to Alpybus is still required.
What vehicles do we use?
For winter 2009/10 we have purchased a brand new fleet of 13 Seater Renault Masters. They are fully equipped for winter conditions and have sufficient room for luggage and sports equipment.
Licenses and Insurance?
We are fully insured and are holders of an International PSV Operators Licence issued by the Swiss Federal Transport Department. This means that we can operate vehicles for private hire across international borders. In addition we hold a Regular Service Authorization for the Chamonix - Geneva route, which enables us to provide a daily timetabled service. All customers are required to wear a safety belt during transfers, failure to wear one will result in a termination of customer insurance coverage.
What about Children?
There are no discounts given to children as with a shared transfer you are paying for the seat taken. We are able to provide baby seats and boosters on request. This must be high-lighted on your booking enquiry form. Alpybus does not allow children to sit on parents' laps.
Parents/Guardians are required to arrange proper child seat arrangements prior to the day of travel with the Alpybus office. It is recommended:
- Rear facing child seat for babies 0-9 months old
- Forward facing child seat for babies 10 months - 4 years
- Booster seat for children above 4 years up to the height of 1.35m
Visa?
We advise clients to get the necessary visas to enter Switzerland, which can be obtained from the relevant embassy within your country. All Schengen Visa holders are now able to pass freely through Switzerland. N.B. We do not pick up from the French Sector of Geneva Airport. Failure to be in possession of the correct visa will result in you being denied boarding the vehicle. In this event your ticket is non transferable, non refundable and no compensation will be paid.
